Knox Students Get Into Giving
Generosity and acts of kindness abound throughout the holiday season in Wilmette at Ronald Knox Montessori School!
For over 4 decades, the children have participated in 3 different service projects during the holidays.
During the annual Toy Drive, students were encouraged to part with one of their own gently used toys. The toys were then given to the children at their sister school, Lloyd Barbee Montessori School, which is part of the Milwaukee Public School System. RKMS students brought their gifts to the school’s annual Holiday Sing event which was conducted on Sunday, December 7th, at the Wilmette Junior High School.
In addition, the Mitten Tree is set up every year in the school’s foyer for the purpose of decorating it with new mittens, hats and scarves that are also donated by the students for the benefit of the children at Lloyd Barbee Montessori School.
Lastly, the annual Sharing with the Sisters event provided the third year students an opportunity to spread holiday cheer by singing songs and bringing gifts to the nuns of the Sisters of Christian Charity, who were instrumental in the founding of RKMS over 50 years ago. At this annual tradition, which took place on December 12th, the Sisters were entertained and presented with gift bags stocked with stationery, stamps, tissues, and lotions that the children donated.
